I love our garden. Really, really, really love our garden. Now that Spring is here, I’m falling in love even more. Thanks to the previous owners there are beautiful flowers popping up everywhere. Baby Bear has planted tons of herbs, fruits and vegetables and they’re really flourishing. Between playing, planting and having picnics, Baby Bear and I have been spending lots of time in our backyard lately.
This Dr. Seuss classic is a favorite in our house. Not only does Baby Bear love hearing me read the book but I really love reading it. I was worried that it might be too long for her but I think that since it’s not one long story but a collection of “scenes” (for lack of a better word) it doesn’t feel that long. She loves when I change my voice and accent for the different characters. Sometimes I’m British and other times I’m from the Deep South. Often times I use a totally made-up accent and I think those invented voices are her favorite.
Like the rest of the world, we’re big fans of Dr. Seuss and have many of his books but One fish two fish red fish blue fish is definitely one of our favorites.

Our new home is in a neighborhood undergoing a lot of changes. I actually grew up here so I am very cognizant of how this area is evolving. Many of the houses on the market here are getting bought by investors and flipped into brand new updated homes. When we saw our home we fell […][Continue reading...]
We have begun a family tradition of taking a long road trip every year. Last year we took an amazing trip up north and this year we repeated that journey with a few adjustments here and there. One thing we realized after this past vacation is that during her toddler years, Baby Bear prefers to […][Continue reading...]
I love our garden. I love it for what it is now but I adore it for what I see it becoming. Ideas have been swirling around in my head regarding what we can do. I just bought an orange tree and I’d like to add a peach tree to our garden soon. I’ve also […][Continue reading...]
We bought a house! If you remember from this post and this one, we spent 2013 looking for a home and the process was pretty stressful at times. After a lot of searching (and tons of praying) we found a home and it’s wonderful. Let me tell you all about it: Our house was built […][Continue reading...]
Did you miss me? Did you even know I was gone… In any case, I’m back. It’s been awhile, I know. A lot has happened since last we spoke. Some good, some not-so-good. I won’t go into all of the details but as you well know, life is full of ups and downs. You just […][Continue reading...]
My posts are going to be a bit sporadic over the next few weeks. A lot is going on over here and there simply aren’t enough hours in the day to get everything done. Don’t worry – everything is ok (really great, actually) and I’ll be back to my regular schedule soon enough but right […][Continue reading...]
Dave Chappelle had a hilarious reoccurring skit on his comedy show called “When Keeping it Real Goes Wrong”. The skits were hysterical examples of the bad things that can sometimes happen when you “keep it real”. While I have never claimed to be a fashionista and have never been one to obsess over fashion trends, […][Continue reading...]
On my birthday, my family brought over a tremendous amount of food. It was so good. It was also a blessing as it’s saved us money (we haven’t had to make any trips to the grocery store) and it’s saved us time (we haven’t had to make dinner) because the spread was so massive. We’ve […][Continue reading...]
